The Iranian president arrived back in Tehran after a three-day official visit to Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan on Friday afternoon.

Pezeshkian had traveled to Turkmenistan to attend the International Conference on Peace and Trust and to meet with several participating leaders. He departed the country a short while ago, returning to the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Speaking to journalists upon his arrival home, Pezeshkian said that the two-leg tour yielded postive results for the country. 

“The principled policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran is to strengthen and improve relations with its neighbors, and during this trip, we consulted with the leaders of Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan in all possible areas of cooperation and reached very good agreements,” the president said.

Referring to the signing of 14 cooperation documents with Kazakhstan, he added, “In Kazakhstan, we reached good understandings in many areas necessary for the development of cooperation between us. A group of Iranian economic activists also accompanied us on the trip, who reached good agreements in consultations with their counterparts.”

Stating that the consultations also went very well in the field of cultural and health cooperation, he added, “During the trip to Kazakhstan, we also visited a university and one of the advanced hospitals built in Astana and had useful discussions in the fields of medical, biotechnology, and digital medicine interactions.”

Referring again to the 14 cooperation documents signed between Iran and Kazakhstan, the President described these documents as being in the interest of the two countries and all countries in the region, adding, “Overall, we had very constructive interactions and agreements with the Kazakh side during this trip.”

Referring to his trip to Turkmenistan to participate in the  International Year of Peace and Trust forum, which was held with the participation of the heads of some other states, Pezeshkian noted, “Upon arrival in Turkmenistan, we met with the national leader of the country and reviewed the previous agreements between the two countries and reached good results. He also met with the President of Turkmenistan and reached constructive agreements.”

Explaining his other meetings on the sidelines of the summit, he stated, “In the meeting with the President of Russia, we had a detailed discussion about past agreements and the implementation of the strategic agreement between the two countries and the necessary measures to accelerate its implementation.”

The Iranian president also referred to the meetings with the leaders of Pakistan, Iraq, and Myanmar and brief talks on the sidelines of the summit with the presidents of Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan, and stated, “During such meetings, opportunities arise for diplomatic meetings that, under normal circumstances, dozens of trips have to be made for to achieve such opportunities. Finally, I must tell the people that good results were achieved in strengthening neighborly relations during this trip.”
