The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) issued a statement confirming that the cargo ship was struck by a projectile of unknown origin.
According to preliminary reports, the vessel sustained damage as a result of the impact. No casualties have been reported among the crew by the time this piece of news was being pubished by Mehr.
It was later reported that the ship was carrying Singapore flag.
