IAEA officials' visit to Tehran indicates Iran's strong will to cooperate constructively with Agency: Raisi

Speaking in a meeting with Rafael Mariano Grossi, the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Ayatollah Ebrahim Raisi referred to the records of Iran’s extensive cooperation with the Agency, and emphasized the need for professional, impartial performance and the independence of the IAEA’s vote.

President Raisi stated that Iran had the highest level of cooperation with the IAEA based on good faith and faithfulness, emphasizing, “The Islamic Republic of Iran expects the IAEA’s view to be completely professional and avoiding being influenced by the domineering powers”.

Stating that the Islamic Republic’s opposition to WMDs, including nuclear weapons, before any international law, is rooted in adherence to the Supreme Leader’s fatwa regarding the nuclear weapons being haram, the President stated, “Some countries, America and the Zionist Regime at the head of them, have used the nuclear issue as a pretext to put more pressure on the people of Iran, while this regime does not adhere to any international pact regarding the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons”.

Emphasizing that the United States was the first violator of the nuclear agreement that withdrew from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), the President added, “The Europeans also did not fulfill their obligations in this agreement, while Iran adhered to its obligations and this adherence was approved more than 15 times in the Agency’s reports”.

Referring to the talks between the Grossi and the Iranian authorities in Tehran, the President expressed hope that the Agency would act based on professional and fair behaviour and respect the principle of neutrality to state the reality of Iran’s peaceful nuclear activities and clarify our country’s adherence to the laws.

In this meeting, Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, also expressed satisfaction with the trip to Iran and especially meeting with the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, calling the cooperation between Iran and the Agency a long-standing and positive one.

Emphasizing that today, the use of nuclear energy is an indispensable necessity for people’s welfare, Grossi referred to his recent talks with Iranian officials as constructive and positive.
