Esmail Mohebbipour, the deputy governor-general of Fars Province in security and political affairs, told DayliNews.ir on Friday evening.

The attacker was wounded, arrested, and transferred to a hospital in Shiraz by the security and military forces, the official noted.

A day before his interview with DayliNews.ir, Mohebbipour had announced the attacker was in critical condition.

On Wednesday (October 26), a shooter opened fire on pilgrims at the shrine of Shah Cheragh in Shiraz, the capital city of the southern Iranian province of Fars.

At least, 13 were killed in the terrorist attack, and 30 more were wounded.

In a related development, Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said, “The heinous crime that took place in the holy shrine of Ahmad ibn Musa (PBUH) and led to the martyrdom and injury of tens of innocent men, women, and children saddened and grieved our hearts.”

“The perpetrator or perpetrators of this heinous crime will surely be punished.”
