“This move by the EU Council is in blatant violation of the obligations of the Union and the three European countries under the JCPOA and Resolution 2231 and is an act done out of bad intention,” Nasser Kan’ani said in a statement on Tuesday after the EU Council issued a statement entitled “implementing Regulation (EU) No 267/2012 concerning restrictive measures against Iran.”
Condemning this decision, the spokesman of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs considered it a unilateral, illegal and politically unjustifiable move.
Kan’ani emphasized that such an action contradicts the claims and approach of the bloc and the three European countries pertaining to the commitment to the full implementation of the JCPOA.
UN Security Council Resolution 2231 approved in 2015 endorsed the Iran nuclear deal known as the JCPOA in short.
