Speaking to reporters at the end of his regional tour on Sunday, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian pointed to the savage attacks by the Zionist Israeli regime on the Gaza citizens and said that his talks with the high-ranking officials of the four nations he visited as well as the leaders of the Resistance groups since Thursday focused on finding an “urgent political solution” to stop the Zionist regime war crimes and lift the blockade on Gaza.
He said that in the meeting with the Resistance leaders, he was assured that the Resistance had the necessary potential to stop the regime’s war crimes.
“What matters is that we have clearly told the different parties that if the violence and killing of women and children is not stopped immediately, all the parties in the region have a finger on the trigger. The region is like a tinderbox, where there is a possibility of a huge explosion every hour, and the control will be out of the hands of all parties,” he added.
“In the talks with the Prime Minister of Iraq and the Emir of Qatar, I realized that there is a will to hold a meeting of regional leaders if this situation continues,” Amir-Abdollahian added.
He further said in response to a question put forward by the journalist that he will attend the OIC meeting at the level of foreign ministers which is slated to be held in Saudi Arabia on Wednesday.
The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has announced that it will hold an urgent meeting next Wednesday to discuss recent dramatic developments in the Gaza Strip.
In a statement on Saturday, the OIC said, “At the invitation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which chairs the Islamic Summit and the Executive Committee of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the Organization’s Executive Committee is convening an urgent open-ended extraordinary meeting at the ministerial level.”
The meeting aims to address “the escalating military situation in Gaza and its environs as well as the deteriorating conditions that endanger the lives of civilians and the overall security and stability of the region.”
The extraordinary meeting of the OIC Executive Committee will take place at the General Secretariat headquarters in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
