Heading a delegation, Safari has traveled to Baghdad to meet with senior Iraqi officials.

On behalf of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, Safari wished progress and prosperity to the Iraqi nation.

During the meeting, Safari expressed Iran’s willingness to expand cooperation with Iraq in different areas.

He said that Iran-Iraq joint economic committee will hold its meetings in the coming days, during which they will exchange views over common issues.

Iraqi President, for his part, called for expansion of bilateral relations between Iran and Iraq in different areas.

He also hailed Iran’s efforts in standing by Iraq’ in the dictatorship era as well as the country’s struggle against ISIL.

According to reports, Iranian ambassador to Iraq Mohammad Kazem Al-e Sadegh also attended the meeting.

Mehdi Safari also held talks with Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein in Baghdad on Sunday.
