The foreign ministers of Iran and Azerbaijan held a meeting to discuss the bilateral relations between the countries on the sidelines of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation emergency meeting in Saudia Arabia’s Jeddah city on Tuesday night.
Amir-Abdollahian said that considering the holding of the trial for the Azerbaijani embassy attacker, he and Bayramov agreed to plan the sending of an Azeri diplomat delegation to Tehran.
Back in October, the Iranian foreign minister stressed that Tehran and Baku agreed on the active development of bilateral relations.
In January 2023, an attack on the Azerbaijani embassy in Tehran killed a security officer and wounded two more.
After interrogating the suspect, the Iranian foreign ministry as well as the judicial and security officials stressed that the attacker had carried out the attack for very personal and family reasons.
