President Ebrahim Raeisi of Iran made the remarks in a meeting with Emir of Qatar Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in Algeria on the sidelines of the 7th summit of the leaders of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) in Algeria on Saturday.
Referring to the crimes committed by the Zionist regime in Gaza, the President further criticized the indifference and inaction of some Islamic countries in the face of those crimes and said “Since the emergency meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Riyadh, no effective action has been taken to stop the crimes committed by the Zionists in Gaza.. In the meantime, the economic relations of some regional governments with the Zionist regime continue.”
Raeisi expressed his deep regret that the governments of the region have fallen into inaction and excessive conservatism in dealing with the Palestinian issue, saying that. “While the Palestinian Muslim nation is expecting practical and effective action from the Islamic governments today, one can see that some Arab and Islamic states are showing indifference towards the Palestinian issue. What is the response of their nations to the massacre of the oppressed people of Palestine?”
The Iranian president also held a separate meeting with the president of Tunisia Kais Saied where he said that “The resolve of the Islamic Republic of Iran is to deepen economic relations with Islamic countries, especially in North Africa.”
Raeisi also considered the shared view between the two countries regarding the Palestinian issue as a suitable ground for taking effective steps towards the realization of the rights of the Palestinian people.
The Iranian President also held a separate meeting with Filipe Nyusi, the president of Mozambique where he emphasized the interest of the Islamic Republic of Iran to develop relations with African countries, including Mozambique. “This meeting can be a turning point in the direction of expanding and deepening the relations between the two countries,” Raeisi said.
The President said that in line with the goal of expanding bilateral ties between Iran and Mozambique, the drawing of a new road map was necessary.
He suggested that the Iran-Mozambique Joint Commission be activated with the aim of improving the level of relations and identifying and exploiting the high potential of the two countries.
Moreover, in a meeting with Abdul Latif Rashid, the president of Iraq, President Raeisi stressed that “The Islamic Republic of Iran considers the security of Iraq to be its own security, not in words but in practice..”
The Iranian President further pointed out the importance of the security issue for Iran and Iraq and considered that confronting terrorist and separatist groups at the border points requires the interaction and role-playing of both countries.
