Parliamentary delegations from 25 countries, including Bahrain, Iraq, Maldives, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, Thailand, Turkey and Azerbaijan, Palestine, Russia, Qatar and UAE, Iran, Indonesia, Yemen, Syria, China, Laos, Bangladesh, Cyprus, India, Jordan and Kazakhstan have taken part in the session which kicked off in Baku on February 20 and will run until Saturday.
The Iranian delegation is led by Jalil Rahimi, a member of a parliamentary group that represents Iran in APA and also includes Abolfazl Amouei, the spokesperson for the Iranian parliament’s national security and foreign policy commission.
In a meeting with the Palestinian parliamentary delegation, Rahimi discussed the need to immediately stop the war in Gaza, emphasizing economic sanctions against the Zionist regime by parliaments, and Islamic and Arabic countries.
Also, in the meeting with the parliamentary delegation of Bangladesh, the two sides discussed parliamentary and economic relations along with regional and political issues.
Iranian and Syrian parliamentary delegations discussed the latest situation in Gaza and emphasized the need to stop the war. They also conferred bilateral economic relations in addition to some regional and political issues.
In a meeting with the deputy parliament speaker of Qatar, Rahimi appreciated Qatar’s positions regarding Gaza while expressing his happiness for the constructive and positive relations between Iran and Qatar.
He also requested to enhance parliamentary cooperation between the two countries and invited Qatari official, Hamda bint Hassan Al Sulaiti to visit Tehran.
The Iranian lawmaker also considered the improvement of relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia and efforts to improve relations with Jordan and Egypt as a good opportunity to expand Iran’s relations with the Arab world, hoping that other Arab countries would have a constructive and positive view like Qatar.
While criticizing Israel’s crimes, the deputy parliament speaker of Qatar also expressed readiness to enhance the coordination of Islamic parliaments against the Zionist regime, emphasizing the Qatari parliament’s interest in increasing parliamentary cooperation with Iran.
