Vahid Jalalzadeh, the head of the Iranian parliament’s Commission of National-Security and Foreign-Policy, who has traveled to Moscow at the head of a delegation, held a meeting with Leonid Slutsky, the First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma’s Committee on International Affairs, and Andrey Kartapolov, Chairman of the Committee on Defence in Russian State Duma in Moscow on Monday.
In the meeting, the senior Iranian lawmaker condemned the crimes of the Zionist regime in the Gaza Strip and considered the Al-Aqsa Storm operation as the result of the 75-year oppression of the Zionists against the oppressed people of Palestine.
Jalalzadeh referred to the actions of the Iranian parliament in sending parliamentary delegations to friendly and allied countries after the start of the Al-Aqsa Storm operation, calling today’s events in Gaza “the crime of the century.”
The head of the parliament’s national security commission, who will go to Turkey after Russia to continue his diplomatic consultations, praised Moscow’s constructive positions regarding the crimes in Gaza and the veto of the American resolution against the interests of the Palestinian people in the UN Security Council.
He further stated that Iran and Russia should intensify their efforts for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza to stop the killing of children, women and defenseless people of the enclave. “Iran and Russia have already shown that they can stop America’s will with a coordinated move by working together in Syria.”
Referring to the gap between the Europeans and America’s positions when it comes to the Middle East issue, the member of the Iranian parliament said that the events in Gaza in recent days revealed the isolation and failure of US’s foreign policy.
Referring to the third meeting of the Iran-Russia Joint Parliamentary Commission, which was held in Tehran recently, Jalalzadeh said, “The bilateral relations of the two countries are continuously expanding in all fields.”
He also expressed hope for the cooperation of Iran and Russia in accelerating the completion of the Rasht-Astara railway project.
Slutsky, for his part, said that, the US seeks to increase the tension in the Gaza war, and despite all the diplomatic efforts of Iran, Russia and the international community, it unilaterally supports Israeli crimes.
Referring to the meeting of the executive committee of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly in the near future, this official of the Russian Duma spoke about the importance of creating a special parliamentary platform in the region to deal with the Zionist crimes in Gaza.
He also called the North-South Corridor project as a rival to the Suez Canal and the Black Sea Strait and expressed hope for its completion as soon as possible.
The head of the defense committee of the Russian State Duma, for his part, stated that the Israeli regime’s military actions have crossed the red lines and are clearly beyond self-defense.
Kartapolov added that the US is seeking to correct its tarnished image by supporting the criminal actions of the Zionist regime in Gaza, after suffering defeats in Ukraine, Syria and Afghanistan, stressing that Washongton’s attempts will get nowhere.
He also emphasized the common position of Iran and Russia to establish an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and the need to increase military and technical cooperation between the two countries.
