Amirabdollahian made the remarks in a joint press conference following two rounds of talks with his Omani counterpart Sayyid Badr Albusaidi on Saturday.
According to the Iranian minister, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) adopted an unconstructive stance in the end of last week, while an Iranian delegation comprised of the Foreign Ministry officials as well as experts from the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) visited Vienna, Austria, two weeks ago and held talks with IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi in order to improve cooperation with the UN nuclear watchdog.
Nevertheless, an anti-Iran draft resolution was proposed in line with the United States’ maximum pressure and the IAEA was misused once more to issue the resolution, he criticized.
We would take reciprocal and effective measure, while we will abide by the international law and commitments, he said.
Amirabdollahian pointed to the presence of foreign forces in the region, noting that the shipping of unmanned vessels belonging to ultra-regional states has created security problems in the Persian Gulf and Oman Sea region.
The top Iranian diplomat said that the two sides discussed different issues of mutual interests as well as the follow-up of the latest agreements between Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi and Oman’s Sultan Haitham bin Tarik.
We are very pleased to see that the agreements and wishes of both heads of states would come out in different aspects of mutual economic and trade cooperation, the minister added.
Iran appreciates constructive efforts made by Oman in assisting the Islamic Republic in removing cruel sanctions as well as Muscat’s support for reaching a final consensus in the nuclear talks, he noted.
He went on to say that we believe the regional countries are capable of preserving peace and security in the West Asia region.
For his part, the Omani foreign minister underlined that Arab country pursues the good neighborliness policy in dealing with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Oman has always tried to protect shipping and trade security, because it would be beneficial for the regional nations.
There are various challenges and differences, but the only way to resolve them would come out from dialogue and diplomatic path, he argued.
Oman condemns any kind of terrorism and violence, underlining the need for positive interaction with the Islamic Republic of Iran, Albusaidi said.
