Special UN Secretary-General Envoy for Yemen affairs, Hans Grundberg met with Hossein Amir-Abdollahian during his trip to Tehran on Saturday.
The two sides discussed the latest developments in the region, focusing on the issue of Yemen.
Iranian foreign minister emphasized in the meeting that the militarstic approach of the US government, especially the military attacks of the US and UK against Yemen and the re-listing of Yemeni Ansarullah movement in the US terrorist list made the situation even more complicated and reaching a the political solution difficult.
Condemning the last night’s US aggression against targets in Syria and Iraq, he referred to the US’s failed approach to solving problems by resorting to force and militarism.
Referring to Iran’s continued support for establishing peace and security in Yemen, Amir-Abdollahian stressed that efforts to establish stability and security throughout the region will benefit all countries in the region.
Grundberg, for his part, expressed condolences to the Iranian foreign minister and the families of the martyrs of the recent terrorist incident in Kerman.
Appreciating Iran’s stance and commitment to stability and security in the region, especially Yemen, he reported on the UN actions regarding creating peace and stability in Yemen to reduce the tensions within this country, stressing the necessity of resolving the root causes of regional crises by using intra-regional capacities.
