In a meeting on Sunday with the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, Bakhtiar Saidov, who has travelled to Tehran together with the Minister of Roads and Transport of the country, Ayatollah Ebrahim Raisi described the relations between the two countries historical, and stated, “Although Iran and Uzbekistan have taken good actions to develop relations, but considering the mutual capacities, it is necessary to improve the level of relations with more efforts”.

The President considered strengthening the convergence policy with neighbouring countries as one of the important approaches of the popular and justice-oriented government and, referring to his recent trip to Uzbekistan, urged the relevant ministers to accelerate implementing the agreements of the two Presidents in the cultural and economic fields, especially in the commercial, transit and agriculture sectors”.

Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Bakhtiar Saidov, for his part, stated that his country seeks to strengthen its relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran in all aspects, and referred to the historical commonalities and deep civilisational and cultural relations of the two countries and the two nations, and described Ayatollah Raisi’s visit Samarkand the opening of a new page in the history of relations between the two countries.

Referring to the agreements made with Iran to develop and strengthen the activities of the Joint Commission for Economic Cooperation and the holding of a trade conference between the two countries, as well as the negotiations held in order to use the joint corridors, he emphasized, “Uzbekistan will use all its efforts to implement the resulting agreements”.
