Alireza Seyhoun said that given the agreements made following the visit of Iran’s First Vice President Mohammad Mokhber to Belarus and in line with conducting trade negotiations for the import of potash into the country from Belarus, a joint meeting was held with the participation of the representatives of the Belarusian Potash Company (BPC).

During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views regarding the new opportunities for cooperation, the optimal use of Iranian logistics advantages, and also increase of the volume of bilateral trade, he stated. 

At the invitation of the CEO of the Belarusian Potash Company, the Iranian negotiating team visited the mine and potash fertilizer processing plant in the city of Salihorsk in Belarus, he noted.

Earlier, Minsk and Tehran agreed on the supplies of 400,000 tons of Belarusian potash fertilizers to Iran, Mehr news agency reported.

Back in October, Head of the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran (TPOI) Mahdi Zeyghami pointed to the signing of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Tehran and Minsk, saying that the agreement will lay the ground for increasing the volume of trade between Iran and Belarus as well as other Eurasian countries.

He referred to the development of joint cooperation with Belarus in the fields of mineral, mining equipment and machinery, and tractor manufacturing and revealed that Iran enjoys high capacities to export technical and engineering services and medical equipment to Belarus.
