During the meeting, Khaji outlined Iran’s efforts to help lift the blockade on the Yemeni people and establish a truce and fair peace in Yemen.

He said the Islamic Republic of Iran believed from the very beginning that the Yemen crisis had no military solution and that the crisis had to be resolved through peaceful means and political discussions.

Khaji further stressed the need to speed up the adoption of a pragmatic strategy to resolve the Yemen crisis, saying that improvement of the humanitarian situation in Yemen must be the top priority for the UN and other players in the country.

Grundberg, for his part, pointed to the recent agreement between Iran and Saudi Arabia to resume diplomatic relations and noted that the development will have positive implications for all regional countries including Yemen.
