Mokhber held talks with the Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid who was visiting Tehran on Saturday to offer condolences on the martyrdom of the Iranian President Ebrahim Raeisi and his companions in a helicopter crash last weekend.
“Our martyred president did great actions and made important achievements. Perhaps one of his most outstanding actions was to raise the level of Iran’s relations with Islamic, neighboring, and aligned countries, which was honestly very successful in that regard,” Mokhber said.
The interim president of Iran said that late president Raeisi attached great importance to relations with Iraq, adding that the late President Raeisi played an important role in strengthening the Axis of Resistance, disrupting power equations in the world by synergizing with independent countries and defeating the hegemony of America and the Zionist occupation regime, especially during the Zionist crimes in Gaza.
“No doubt that the strategy of the Islamic Republic of Iran towards the government and people of Iraq, which was pursued by Ayatollah Raeisi will continue with force from now on,” Mokhber underscored.
“His martyrdom was a great loss and unparallelled tragedy not only for the Iranian nation but also for the Iraqi nation and the entire region,” the Iraqi president said, for his part, after offering condolences to the Iranian people and government.
Rashid further stressed that the Iraqi government and nation will stand by the government and nation of Iran in this difficult period to get over the grief. He also emphasized his country’s determination to continue relations and cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran and said that “our strong relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran will continue with force and we will take all necessary measures to strengthen the level of these relations.”
