Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Diplomacy Mehdi Safari chaired the meeting that was attended by members of the Headquarters for the Coordination of Foreign Economic Relations including directors of relevant bodies.

In the session, the role of Cuba as a traditional and strategic partner of Iran, the details of the roadmap of barter between Tehran and Havana and the extent to which the set goals have been achieved were examined.

According to the report, as part of this document, 13 official agreements have been signed between the two countries in the fields of science, health, agriculture, energy, technology and nanotechnology, engineering and maritime cooperation, trade, higher education, sports, and banking as well as judiciary ties.

Initial measures have been put in place in all the areas and the agreements will be implemented in the near future.

The second part of the session was dedicated to looking into the latest state of economic relations between Iran and West African countries. These countries have a good potential in their mineral, agricultural, construction, population and market sectors for Iran to sell its goods. This has made it necessary to establish economic relations and trade investment.

Elsewhere, the participants in the meeting spoke about holding a joint economic commission between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Ivory Coast and Senegal in the near future and holding the first ECWAS (Economic Community of West African States) meeting in Tehran in February. It is hoped that the size of trade with this region will improve and increase, which requires proper and targeted planning in the field.
