Nasser Kan’ani has strongly condemned the House of Commons of Canada for violating Iran’s sovereignty and national security due to listing the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist group.
In reaction to Canada’s plan to label Iranian official armed forces as a terrorist group, Kan’ani criticized the move as unwise and hostile, arguing that it goes against international law principles of sovereign equality and non-interference in the internal affairs of states.
Kan’ani said that the Canadian plan is a clear violation of Iran’s sovereignty and national security.
He further criticized the Canadian parliamentarians for taking the wrong path over the past decade under the influence of the Zionist regime and some outcast groups.
He advised them to study the position of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in Iran to understand its legal identity as a sovereign body derived from the Iranian Constitution.
Kan’ani emphasized that the IRGC, like other Iranian armed forces, is responsible for protecting national security and borders plus countering terrorism to ensure lasting security and stability in the region.
He added that the Canadian parliament’s ignorant and imprudent act does not affect the power and authority of the IRGC.
He went on to say that the Islamic Republic of Iran reserves the right to appropriate and reciprocal response against such acts contrary to international law and against the Iranian nation and government.
